Proteins are made of building blocks called amino acids. Amino acids are organic compounds that combine to form proteins. Our body needs a daily supply of amino acids from foods to make new protein because the body cannot store amino acids. Proteins are important nutrients that our body uses to build, maintain, and repair tissues within the body. It also, boost the immune system, increase fat burning and lower the risk for diabetes.
Some studies showed that a higher protein diet is often recommended during a fat loss program because of protein’s high thermic effect (up to 30% of calories from protein are burned off during digestion) and its ability to satisfy hunger. But it is advisable to take less meat, especially red meat which may lead to weight gain and other health problems.
